It’s great to see people embracing the fact that we’re out of lockdown and we can pretty much enjoy a traditional Christmas that we all know and love. From a catering perspective, it seems people are returning to normal faster than Santa can make it down the chimney! Buffets (hot and cold), platters, staff parties and private events are all in hot demand and booking up fast. Another thing that is proving popular this year is our meal kits and gift hampers.

We’ll have to wait and see what will happen in the New Year when it comes to people coming back to their offices in the CBD and the inner suburbs and indeed whether the trend towards individual boxes of food remains, or people return to the traditional shared platters. Based on previous times when we have come out of lockdown, my guess is that businesses will be keen to return to shared platters. The overwhelming feedback we receive from our customers is that while the individual boxes were great for getting through Covid, they just want to get back to “normal” and share food with colleagues and friends.

Here’s to the age old tradition of eating together – whether it be at home, in your local friendly restaurant or indeed at the office. Eating out of a box, in your trackie daks, in a zoom meeting doesn’t really cut the mustard!
