You’ve been asked to organise last minute lunch catering. Don’t panic or fret, we specialise in helping catering organisers with those same day, last minute catering orders, because we know that’s what you need.

The sooner we know about your late catering order, the sooner you’ll have the peace of mind that we’ve got your back. If we cannot provide you with exactly what you want, we’ll come up with some fantastic alternatives that will get you out of a pickle for those critical last-minute catering orders.
At Elizabeth Andrews, we are conveniently located at the doorstep of the CBD, in West Melbourne. Our location is perfect for servicing Melbourne’s CBD and surrounding areas, and with 14 vans on the road every day, it’s likely that we’ll have a van going past your building so your last minute, same day order can be easily incorporated into one of our delivery runs.
If you would like more information on exactly how we handle last minute orders, below is the process and although it may sound extensive it all happens in a matter of a couple of minutes.
What is the process for same day catering orders, you ask? Let us run through it with you:
1. Phone us with your last minute catering order
Know what catering you’d like to order? Great! Not sure what you’d like? Then call and ask or have a quick look at our corporate catering menu online here. Once you have an idea of what catering you need to order, we ask that you please pick up the phone and give us a call for a speedy response during business hours. Our customer service team is based in Melbourne and available on 03 9670 4361 from 7.00am – 5.00pm, Monday – Friday. So, if something comes up and you need to organise last minute catering while you’re driving to work or on the train, just give us a call – we’ll be in the office!
Outside of business hours you can either leave a voicemail message or email your last minute catering order to catering@elizabethandrews.com.au. For any late catering orders made via voicemail or email overnight we guarantee a response by 7.30am.
So we can promptly assist you we ask that you provide us with some details for your same day catering order request. These include:
- Number of people
- Catering required (this will be subject to availability on the day)
- Delivery time (again, this will be subject to availability on the day – we many need to tweak the timings depending on when we have a van in the area)
- Delivery location
If you have phoned on the day, once we’ve got the details of your late catering order, we’ll briefly have to put you on hold (I know, that’s the last thing you want to happen – but it does mean we can solve your short notice catering request immediately) as we go through the rest of the checklist….
2. Kitchen check
We’ll quickly speak with the kitchen to discuss your late catering order and to check that we can fulfil your catering request. If some items are not available, we’ll establish what alternatives our kitchen can prepare in time for your catering order before we get you back on the line to check that you’re happy with the kitchen’s suggestions. If you’re happy with the alternative catering options, we’ll once again put you on hold while we check with the Dispatch Manager regarding how we’re going to get the food to you!
3. Confirm with dispatch
We’ll then have a quick chat with the Dispatch Manager to confirm which delivery run we can include your late catering order with. Because we will have mapped out our delivery runs at 5.00pm the business day prior, it’s really important that for same day catering orders you get in touch with us as soon as you possibly can. That way we can re-configure our delivery runs early in the day to incorporate your last-minute catering order. If we are unable to get your catering order to you at exactly the time you want it, we will suggest another time as close as possible. We understand that earlier is better so if need be, we may get it to you nice and early so you can pop it in your fridge at the office. That way, you’ll look like a star when the food miraculously turns up fresh and tasty and bang on time!
4. Same day catering order email confirmation
Once you’ve confirmed with us over the phone that you’re happy with your late catering order and all of the details, we’ll shoot you through a quick email confirming our discussion and your catering order. We ask you to quickly check that everything is as per our discussion and if anything seems awry, you can get back to us and we can sort it out before we start to prepare your same day catering order.
5. Same day delivery
Once you have received your confirmation email and checked the details, we’ll crack on and prepare your catering order. Once your late catering order is ready, it will go straight into our holding fridges ready for dispatch to deliver. For hot food, we’ll set the timer for when it needs to go into the oven prior to leaving our premises so it’ll get to you nice and hot! Depending on how many other orders are in the delivery van and how things are looking traffic wise (we use Snarl – it’s great!) your food will leave our premises and make its way to your office. For cold food, it’ll be transported in a refrigerated van. For hot food, it will be transported in special insulated boxes and either in recyclable confoil trays or re-useable enamel platters.
6. Take the praise
Sit back, relax and take the accolades in the knowledge that YOU saved the day.
Ideally we request that catering orders are submitted to us by 2.00pm the business day prior. That said, while same day catering orders aren’t ideal, they’re not a huge problem for us. The volume of catering orders we produce on a daily basis and the large number of delivery vans that we have on the road means that 99% of the time we can fulfill that last minute catering order for you as requested and at your preferred delivery time.
