Welcome Emma and Tom’s

As you’re probably aware, Elizabeth Andrews is Melbourne born and bred. Likewise, so is our newest gourmet high quality supplier – Emma and Tom’s.

In September this year a change of distribution structure in our juice provider (Nudie) prompted me to review our supply arrangement. Primary in the decision making process was product safety as well as quality and taste, distribution reliability, food miles and of course “nice-people-to-deal-with-ness”.

After a number of blind tastings and an agreement regarding the frequency of delivery (we require just-in-time delivery – thus ensuring fantastic quality) it was clear that Emma and Tom’s was the right fit for Elizabeth Andrews. The added bonus was of course that they too are headquartered in Melbourne!

We love it and we trust you will as well (and watch out for more product coming your way in the new year).

Frocktober’s been and gone and we’re into Movember………

During Frocktober we were delighted to be involved in a number of charity events that contributed to raising funds for research into Ovarian Cancer. Moving on to Movember and the focus changes on addressing some of the biggest health issues faced by men (last year I grew a Moustache – much to my wife’s dismay).

Every year at Elizabeth Andrews we focus on two or three worthy causes where we believe we can make a difference. My philosophy is not to just throw money at an issue, but rather to get involved, dedicate some time and resource and to raise awareness.

When I joined Elizabeth Andrews I started up a weekly internal newsletter called “hEAds-up” and “EArs-open”. It’s in these media that I share our social causes with the team and more often than not receive a bevy of volunteers for whichever cause we are focusing on! It means a lot to me that the team at Elizabeth Andrews is keen to help those less fortunate or indeed to help to find elusive cures for equally elusive diseases.

I commend all those organizations that get involved in socially responsible projects and where I believe we can add value to a particular cause I will enthusiastically support any calls for help.

With Christmas only just around the corner (can you believe it’s less than 7 weeks away) it’s always worth taking stock and seeing where a helping hand can be offered.

Over the last couple of weeks we’ve had our refrigeration units serviced in readiness for the hot summer months ahead.

Cooking Tip

You can freeze cheese! After serving, put leftovers back in the original package, wrap tightly in plastic, and freeze. Defrost in the fridge a day before serving. This trick works best for soft cheeses with a high fat content.
